On the talent trail: Rajshahi Revelations
April 6, 2016
In search of talent, SELISE is ready to travel far and wide. Having previously secured some of the brightest minds from the likes of KUET and the University of Khulna, this time SELISE went North, to Rajshahi, in order to expand its family.
Many companies believe that good people make for good quality work, but at SELISE, the emphasis is on making good people great. That is why we have been exploring Bangladesh for passionate graduates who can be groomed into creative, proficient and world class software engineers.
SELISE set up its stall at the University of Rajshahi Annual Career Fair — an event spanning three days. At the event, over twenty other local and multinational companies welcomed applicants. The fair drew enthusiastic students in droves, and it was delightful to see an excited crowd comprising of students from both University of Rajshahi and the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET).
To let the freshers get a taste of the sort of work the company undertakes, SELISE CTO Shah Ali Newaj conducted a seminar on the IT industry readiness where he emphasized on the skills students should obtain in order to be market ready for the ever changing IT industry. Over a hundred enthusiastic students attended the session.SELISE CTO Shah Ali Newaj conducted a seminar on the IT industry readiness with the students at the fair.
Consequently, SELISE was the only organisation to conduct a spot assessment. Over thirty freshers took the recruitment exam, which tested their abilities with a challenging set of programming problems. The assessment was followed by an interview of the eligible candidates so as to find out who had the Rockstar attribute in them. Eventually, SELISE completed a haul of three students from RUET and one from the University of Rajshahi, marking an end to a successful initiative.Rajshahi recruits with the SELISE CTO. From L-R: Shakhawat, Kawsar, Shah Ali Newaz Topu, Asif, and Forid.
Abu Asif Khan and Shakhawat Hossain are not only classmates from RUET, but very close friends as well. From RUET, we also have Kawsar Ahmed. Finally, representing the University of Rajshahi, we have Foridul Islam. All of them joined SELISE as Junior Software Engineers, and are passionate about problem solving.
The Rajshahi Rockstars have comfortably settled down in the Dhaka office and are already busy with numerous Swiss, Austrian and German projects. They have already had a taste of SELISE’s learning culture by attending multiple classes at SELISE school and seminars, and continue to learn and grow under their mentors.
We’re super happy to have them on board.
